Two weeks spent in the Grand Canyon in 2005, hiking, camping, and running the Colorado River in wooden dories, have left a profound impression on me. This was an unforgettable experience, which I plan to repeat in the fall of 2008.

The French painter Maurice Denis said that "the spiritual task of art is to express the mysterious aspects of life". Native Americans in the Southwest say that, "to tell a story of a place you must 'sing' it". In this body of work I am "singing" the Canyon, its many textures, its special creatures, its mystery, and its spirit.
